DRIVE IT DAY IS BACK AGAIN

Drive It Day is the ideal excuse to get your old rags ready and your GT85 spray so you can give your car and motorbike some proper TLC and get it looking its best for the big day.

SHINE UP YOUR CAR FOR DRIVE IT DAY

Using a GT85-soaked rag or straight from the can, take a look at your:

• alloys – shine and protect.
• body – buff the paintwork with the rag to protect and stop rust.
• door hinges – directly lube the hinges to stop squeaks and keep the doors working.
• headlights – give them a clean to stop them going cloudy and keep the light bright.
• weather stripping – give it a squirt with your formula and wipe down to keep it soft and the seal tight.
• window tracks – give them a wipe and spray with GT85 so the windows slide smooth and don’t stick.
• wing mirrors – wipe down to keep your view clear with no smudges.

Using a GT85-soaked rag or straight from the can, take a look at your:

• controls – wipe them down to keep them clean and functioning properly.
• chain – clean and lube it to keep it smooth.
• exhaust – clean and protect the pipes.
• foot pegs – lube to stop squeaks and prevent rust.
• frame – wipe it down to keep it looking sharp.
• metal surfaces – protect with GT85.
• swingarm – clean and protect from rust build up.

Those in the know will be aware that Brooklands Museum merged two iconic celebrations to bring together the car and motorcycle communities. This event also supports vulnerable kids through NSPCC’s Childline.

Drive It Day goes back to 2005 and was established by the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs to celebrate the pioneers of motoring and preserve our transport heritage.
