HOW TO PROTECT YOUR MOTORBIKE FROM THE COLD

How to protect your motorbike from the cold

Riding a motorbike is a joy any time of the year. But in winter, when conditions are at their most harsh, stepping up precautions to protect your motorbike comes strongly advised. If you own a machine, you’ll be no stranger to bike maintenance, with less daylight light and a drop in temperature a well-oiled seasonal cue to step up your routine.

Here’s why…

Ice damage

Freezing water is one of the most serious hazards bikers face during the colder months.

When we hit a cold snap, any rainwater or moisture lurking around the inside of a bike can freeze, heightening the risk of parts seizing or jamming. GT85 is a great addition to your motorcycle cleaning kit because it will work wonders on the body work.

Be sure to take it a step further, though, and use the red straw to spray GT85 in all the nooks and crannies of your pride and joy. Doing this regularly will:

  • Flush out the dirt and debris that can cause wear and tear
  • Drive out moisture before it has chance to freeze or cause rust
  • And lube working parts to keep them running smoothly

Drivetrain

All good bikers look after their drivetrain. A job that only increases in importance as the mercury starts to fall.

A frozen drivetrain will hinder acceleration and could even snap. So, keep it clean and protected against dirt, rust and ice, with regular applications of GT85 motorcycle cleaning kit.

Doing this – even when weather conditions are good – will stand you in good stead when they’re not.

And while you’re there, your clutch cable would benefit from the same treatment.
