We know you lot are serious about your maintenance and that’s why we’ve got a guide for you on how to maintain a quad bike like a pro. Prepare for best kept secrets that involve some elbow grease and enjoy a roaring quad that’s ready for off-road trails.

QUAD BIKE BEST KEPT SECRETS

  • CLEAN

Blast away dirt with a hose. Get a soap and water mix and scrub the quad bike down with a soft-bristled brush or sponge to lift the rest. Give it another good rinse down and let it dry.

  • LUBE

You know the drill. Get your favourite formula and an old rag, and tackle the chain, cables, pivot points, suspension components, pedals and steering stem bearings. Use your trusty red nozzle to get into hard-to-reach areas and your rag to wipe away excess.

  • PROTECT

Leaving behind a protective layer is essential to keeping your quad looking the part. Give the body a good squirt of your favourite formula and buff it with an old rag to bring back the shine. This barrier will protect it during the muddy season and be the shield that stops moisture and dirt from wrecking your bike.

HOW TO MAINTAIN A QUAD BIKE: CHECK THE BASICS

  • AIR FILTER

Don’t let dust and dirt restrict the airflow. Give it a clean with GT85 and wipe it with a rag.

  • BATTERY

Inspect the battery to make sure it’s looking good and give it a charge. If it’s rusty spray it with GT85 but if it’s looking worse for wear, get a professional to check it over or swap it out for a new one.

  • LIGHTS AND ELECTRICS

Test your headlights, tail lights and indicators to make sure they’re working and visible, and inspect wiring to maintain optimal performance.

  • NUTS AND BOLTS

Vibrations can cause nuts and bolts to come loose, so check them all, especially around the frame, suspension and engine, and tighten them if needs be.

  • OIL AND FLUID LEVELS

Keep your coolant and brake fluid topped up.

  • SUSPENSION

Check your suspension over for damage or leaks.

  • TYRES

Punctures, cracks or bulges? Time for new tyres. Otherwise, good tread and in good nick? You’re good to go.
