WEEKEND CYCLE TRIP BLOG
3 min read
A good bike trip is easy peasy. Decent route, weather (if you’re lucky) and enough kit to stop problems from rearing their ugly heads.
Don’t overpack or spend a fortune. First off, get your GT85 bike spray out to prepare and then figure out where you want to go.
PACKING FOR YOUR BIKE TRIP
- TYRE REPAIR KIT
If you don’t pack one, you’ll need one. A basic puncture kit with tyre levers, patches and glue takes up barely any room and can save your bike trip. Country lanes, gravel tracks and potholes will catch you out. - SPARE TUBE
It’s faster than patching so carry an extra. If the weather’s not on your side and your hands are freezing off, swapping the tube and getting a shift on is usually the better option. Check it fits your tyres before you go. - SNACKS
Cycling all day on a coffee and good intentions never ends well. Pack food you can eat quickly without stopping for ages.
- Bananas
- Electrolyte tablets
- Energy bars
- Sandwiches
- Sweets
- Trail mix
Fuel to keep you going.
- LAYERS (DEPENDING ON THE WEATHER)
Weather changes every five minutes in the UK. Don’t be daft. Take layers you can throw on and off easily throughout the bike trip.
- Base layer
- Extra socks
- Gloves
- Waterproof jacket
- GT85 – YOUR BEST KEPT SECRET
Chuck a can in your rucksack. Lube, clean and protect before and while you’re on the go. Mud, rain and road grime can slow down a bike trip if you’re not well prepared.
