WINTER PROOF YOUR RIDE WITH GT85

As you know, winter’s brutal and it’s unforgiving when it comes to your bike. So, the black ‘n’ red team put their heads together to give you lot some winter cycling tips to keep you on track even in the drizzle.

• LUBE YOUR CABLES
  Cold weather stiffens your cables. Frozen gears and sticky brakes aren’t what you want on icy roads. A quick blast of GT85 along the cable entry points will stop that horrible crunchy feeling when you change your gears.
• CHECK FOR RUST WEEKLY
  Rust doesn’t wait for anyone. Once a week treatment with the best kept secret will keep your bolts, chainrings, bottle cage mounts, bottom brackets – all your bits in top nick.
• CLEAN YOUR DRIVETRAIN REGULARLY
  Leave your drivetrain too long after taking on the winter roads and you’ll shred chains, cassettes and chainrings before Christmas leftovers are gone. Rinse and relube with GT85.
• FIT PROPER WINTER TYRES
  Summer tyres and winter roads aren’t the one. Slap on chunkier treads or puncture-resistant tyres to stay upright in the wet, dodge pinch flats and grip better on cold surfaces. Trust us, it’ll pay off.
• CHECK TYRES MORE OFTEN
  Cold air drops pressure and soft tyres drag. A quick weekly pump-up keeps your rolling resistance down and makes the bike feel way more up to taking on the grit.
• RINSE THE BIKE AFTER EVERY WET, MUCKY RIDE
  A quick blast with the hose, wipe down and job done. Use an old rag to dry it off.
• PROTECT YOUR FRAME AND COMPONENTS
  After rinsing down your bike, finish with a protective GT85 shield on exposed metals and moving parts (just don’t go near your brakes – you know that). It’ll leave a thin film to stop moisture and salt doing any dirty work.
